Dune Tumbling : It all began at the 10th International Vegan Festival, Denmark, in 2006. We were innocently touring the Rabjerg Mile - the world's largest sand dune, when the Italian guy decided to throw himself off the edge. The Frenchman immediately followed, and unfortunately I couldn't resist the peer-pressure... Thus was born the world's first International Vegan Dune Tumbling championships. Despite my best efforts, Australia received only a silver. Classic Italian style resulted in gold, due to delicate toe fluttering during Steffano's descent. From this historic event the Extreme Vegan Sporting Association was born! Read the amazing story here!

Martial Arts : Mac Danzig (US) is a professional mixed martial arts fighter and instructor, and is a former lightweight champion for the King of the Cage and Gladiator Challenge mixed martial arts organizations. As an amateur mixed martial artist, Danzig was the lightweight Extreme Challenge Trials 2001 U.S. MMA National Champion. Mac Danzig was the winner of the The Ultimate Fighter 6, and is under contract with the UFC. However Mac is also has a seriously sensitive side - he's a top photographer! Rogaining : Not to be confused with the hair growth product of a similar name... Australian 'rogaining' is extreme orienteering, with a few extra differences. Teams of 2-5 people have 12 or 24 hours to locate as many checkpoints as possible, hidden in a mix of bush, forest and farmland, using only a map and compass. The winners typically cover 100+ km through rough terrain, carrying all they need, barring refills at a few water drops. Variations include city 6 hour events, 12 hour night events in mid-summer, and the 'Snowgaine' in the Australian Alps. In recent years the sport has gone international and world championships have been held in North America and Australia. My personal best effort involved moving continuously for 23:50 of 24:00 hours. We covering around 100 km, dodging wild pigs, emus and electric fences, sometimes in darkness, fuelled by a vegan diet, which I prepared and ate on the move. We ran for half of the 1st day, walked all night and were shuffling like old men by the end! We no longer bothered finding crossing points but walked straight through streams. Several of my toe nails fell off. My hair however, thankfully grew no longer. ~ Andrew Knight
